Soon after, McCormick was tapped to play the lead character of The Brady Bunch: Wind It Up and It is Broken on the stage of La Jolla Playhouse. McCormick received an audition in 1969 from 1,200 kids to be one of the oldest twin daughters in the TV series The Brady Bunch. In her book, Here's the story The Story of Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice which was published in 2008, McCormick revealed that during the fifth season of the show, she was close to losing her virginity to her screen brother, co-star Barry Williams. She was just 16 at the time, while he was 19. It would have been possible as she says. "But the timing for us was never right."
